Retro Bike Carnage!

Steve Romaniuk and Amir Kabbani showed up yesterday with a huge crew to test  the new 2012 Mongooses.  I set a new record in my truck, 10 bikes, 10 people.  Everyone rolled in late on Saturday night and wanted to get a run in.  I was super stoked to show the Mongoose boys and varying journalists around the mountain.  Half-way down they were grinning ear-to-ear.  They said “we’ve ridden a lot of places and done a lot of things, but this place is super unique”.  They seemed to enjoy the place quite a bit.  I showed Amir and Steve around a bit and they seemed to be pretty stoked on the place.  There is nothing better than when pro factory riders tell you that they are having a super good time and that the terrain and features are super unique. 

I finally got a chance to ride the new 2012 Mongoose Boot’r and I have to say, I can’t wait to sell my Specialized Demo and get on the new Boot’r.  The rear suspension is noticeably more supple through the rough and the bike seemed to be more neutral and had a balanced feel, unlike my Demo where it’s awesome at high-speed but definitely sluggish though the tight trees and technical stuff.  I also got a chance to test-ride the Mongoose Teocali.  The bike was lighter than my Nomad and definitely pedaled better through the tight single-track on the mountain.  Between the off-the-back geometry and nimble feel, the Teocali impressed the heck out of me. 

Needless to say, I am super stoked to have Mongoose in our Rental Fleet and look forward to the new and exciting progressive innovations they implement throughout their product line.
